Open problems we work on. Every line ends in code, a report, or both, and the null results get written up too.
World models for biological design. JEPA-based world models and Active Inference learn latent simulators of molecular dynamics, protein fitness landscapes and gene regulatory networks, then plan multi-step interventions in imagination before paying for a real experiment.
Machine learning on markets, with the failures on record. Predicting the direction of the largest coins did not work (out-of-sample AUC 0.50–0.55). Ranking a point-in-time universe of coins against each other, market-neutral, did, and now runs unattended. A second report shows an equity edge dissolving into survivorship bias.
How much of a mind survives the scan? Whole brain emulation as a machine-learning inverse problem: reconstruct one specific individual's neural network from incomplete, noisy measurements, then test whether the copy is still that individual. Simulated donors first, then real connectome and whole-brain imaging data from C. elegans and the fruit fly.
Dates are targets. Each step ships when the one before it works for real users.
